11/21/14 Introducing Aladar

Aladar Ancilson is a half-elven Paladin from Etolar.  He was raised by his human grandparents Opal and John Ancil.  His human Mother was Ruby Ancil and he never knew his elven Drow Father.

His Mother never knew him either.  He was part of a pirate raiding party believed to be from the Drow home world that the gnomes refer to as Asteroid #564.  He forced himself on her and then left, never to be seen again.  After a difficult pregnancy, Ruby died during childbirth.  Aladar resents his Drow Father and his ancestors as well as piracy for this and has vowed vengeance.

Aladar's Grandmother Opal was the town priest and he learned a lot about medicine and healing from her.  At an early age he also realized he had quite the silver tongue. This eloquence, along with his charm, made him quite skilled at persuading others to see things his way.  It also helped him acquire a job as an ambassador for his home country of ?????.  He networked and made many connections, but most of his work was with the gnomes that would frequently have interesting wares to barter and sell.  Through his work with them, he became fluent in the gnomish language and learned quite a bit about the technology that they had.  He also became quite bored and longed for adventure.

His Grandfather, John Ancil, devoted his career to sailing.  He owned and captained a beautiful hammership and Aladar would sometimes accompany him on his many voyages.  It wasn't long before he decided to follow in his Grandfather's footsteps and he aspired to one day own the great vehicle.  John taught him the basics, but felt it best that he serve on another ship.  He didn't want his crew to think that he was showing his Grandson favoritism.  So he used his many connections to secure him a job with his friend Delford Phelps.

Captain Phelps had a massive whale ship where Aladar could learn everything about sailing.  In his naval years he became quite skilled at athletics, where his natural strength already served him well.  He also learned to pilot many different vessels.  Through the many journeys they had, and all the people they encountered, he became quite perceptive as well.  One of these journeys would be his last and end with a massive battle in space.  Ruthless Orc pirates overtook their huge vessel.  While some abandoned the ship in dinghies, Aladar's pride wouldn't allow him.  The pirates murdered Captain Phelps and most of his crew mates, plundered the ship, and left Aladar to die.  But he didn't die and his vengeance for piracy just grew deeper.  He vowed to avenge their deaths!
